MODEL AFRICAN UNION BAYREUTH CONFERENCE 2022

BAYMAU22 Hybrid Conference

October 5-9 2022

Africa and the Diaspora. Rethinking the role of Africans and Afrodescents for the mother continent

Bridging African Worlds

As usual, this year’s conference will be rich in cultural and academic events. In addition, the hybrid format of the conference will make participation flexible to allow more people to join us from all over the world.

It will be a boon to people who are interested in the African continent from a historical perspective and how that history has shaped the world. One of Africa’s visible footprints on the world is the many African diasporas scattered around the world. This conference will be an opportunity for us to discover how knowledge, arts, and technology from Africa have circulated around the globe and contributed to shaping the world as we know it today. From there, we will also look at the status and realities of the African Diasporas in the contemporary world in different regions of the globe.

Going beyond the aspects mentioned above, we will also question and (re)think the role of the African Diasporas and their responsibility towards Africa on the social, economic and political levels.

We hope to see you in October!

Get inspired by the video of our last in person Conference

The Model African Union Bayreuth Conference has developed in its sixth year of existence into a network and place of exchange between people who are at the centre of these ideas and innovations, who produce and reproduce them, young Africans, people from the African Diaspora, people related to issues around the African continent, entrepreneurs, activists and interested people. They all participate in this exchange of thoughts, experience and ideas every year. So there is nothing better than to open the doors and learn from each other. Parallel to that, having over 100 participants together with guests with particular ties to Africa and their well-versed knowledge to the said topic, will be a significant point to expand one horizon of understanding the African continent and its people.
