Kibouni Koné
For me, MAU is a space to grow and explore skills that extend beyond the academic world. It’s inspiring to see how the entire team behind the conference has consistently found solutions whenever challenges have arisen, forging new partnerships to make the event happen. I’m grateful for the opportunity to work with such a dedicated team.

Annika Kelber
Bachelor’s Student in International Economics and Development (B.A.)
Coming from a broad background of voluntary engagements, Annika joined the Model African Union in 2023. Most important to her: continuous and conscious learning, un-learning and re-learning! She is therefore very much looking forward to a conference providing an opportunity of sharing experiences and developing ideas for a fairer and more just society!

Bethelhem Gashaw Fetene
Master’s student in Environmental Climate Change and Health (M.Sc.)
As a Master’s student in Environmental Climate Change and Health at the University of Bayreuth, I’ve always been drawn to the intersection of global issues and local impact. The Model African Union Bayreuth (MAU) was the perfect space to engage with critical discussions on governance, culture, and development—because, let’s be honest, climate change doesn’t recognize borders, and neither should our solutions.
Joining MAU wasn’t just about diplomacy; it was about the power of ideas, collaboration, and culture in shaping a sustainable future. As Head of Culture, I’ve had the privilege of showcasing Africa’s rich diversity while fostering dialogue that bridges perspectives.

Terema Sanneh
Master’s Student in African Studies: Critical Perspectives on Society, Politics, Culture (M.A.)
I am very happy to be part of the MAU organising team and to gain experience in planning and coordinating a conference. I appreciate the great opportunities for creative teamwork, new networks, and inspiring exchanges in the Technical Workshop Committee and the Culture Department. I look forward to meaningful discussions and great contributions to the discourse on the important topics at this year’s MAU conference.

Smaragda Gkountinaki
Master’s Student in Global History (M.A.)
I joined MAU because I want to learn more about the African continent, its politics, and culture. Being on the team helps me to learn new skills and engage with other students who are passionate about Africa.

Alassane
Student of the University of Bayreuth
I joined Model African Union Bayreuth e.V. to learn more about the politics and policies of the African Union. I’ve committed myself to make the Model African Union simulations a more socially just and inclusive place.
While I have always been a creative media, a public relations enthusiast, and an advocate for social justice, being part of the MAU conference organizing team has taught me how to balance assertiveness with teamwork.
I had no idea that the MAU Bayreuth team would become kind of an intellectual family to me and I’am beyond excited to see that BAYMAU25 will once again become a space for African youth and the African diaspora this year. Let’s celebrate 🙂 !!
